I am Ilan Hamra, an internationally active photographer and visual artist based in Hamburg and Berlin. My work covers a broad spectrum, including meticulously crafted photography and CGI (3D design) – from 'simple' portraits to complex team productions, which I personally realize from the initial concept to the final post-production.

What unites all my projects is a conceptual approach, driven by inspiration and creative objectives. This hands-on approach ensures that each new project becomes something unique, distinguishing itself in the vast sea of digital imagery that characterizes our time.

My passion for storytelling and staging developed early on in dance/theater projects and when I attended a private drama school. Even though I finally decided on the other side of the camera to realize my own ideas, these experiences still form an invaluable foundation for my work and creativity.

This was followed by classic photo design education at the Lette-Verein and in 2017 an additional degree in 3D design.

I have been working as a photographer for agencies, magazines, and renowned clients since 2006, and as a composing and post-production specialist since 2001.

My work has been recognized with several awards, including the Crystal Apple Award, BFF Merits, MIFA Award, One Eyeland Award Silver in Photography, and the Award of Excellence in the USA for Postproduction. I have also been nominated for the Lead Awards and the Photokina Award. My works are regularly featured in publications such as Lürzer's '200 Best Ad Photographers' and '200 Best Digital Artists', and in various exhibitions, including those by BFF and EMOP.

My daylight studio above the rooftops of Hamburg's Schanzenviertel offers ideal conditions for portrait and people photography. Thanks to my extensive experience with various production techniques, I develop customized solutions that optimally highlight the unique strengths of each project.

Since 2023, I have been actively involved as an AI expert at the BFF, leading the newly established AI Working Group. My role focuses on exploring the creative and professional influences of AI, while also investigating the ongoing development of software technology in this field.
